Trailer Structural Calculations & Design Review

Moving an axle, stretching a frame, adding a crane, tank or ramp, or changing what a trailer carries changes the loads in the structure. A structural review checks that the frame, crossmembers, kingpin or coupler area and connections can carry the new loads.

Typical projects

  • Frame extensions and shortening
  • Axle and suspension relocation or replacement
  • Added equipment: cranes, tanks, winches, ramps, toolboxes
  • Gooseneck, kingpin and coupler area reviews
  • Repair details after damage
  • Capacity questions and re-rating reviews

How the review works

  1. You send drawings, photos, material details and the intended loads.
  2. Loads are set up from the weight distribution and the service conditions.
  3. Members and connections are checked by hand calculation or analysis as the job needs.
  4. You get findings, any recommended changes, and a calculation package with a written summary.

Scope, method and any on-site inspection are agreed before work starts [PLACEHOLDER – Dustin to confirm: whether site visits are offered, and where].
